Hello, my name is Greg Ward

My love of travel started when my parents purchased a Winnebago Motorhome in 1971. For many summers thereafter, we’d pile in and explore the United States for weeks at a time. Dad would drive and sing show tunes, mom would navigate and my brother, sister I would hike new trails, swim in mountain lakes and occasionally get on each other’s nerves. It’s no surprise that most of my career was in the development of brands and marketing campaigns for tourism destinations throughout the United States. Along the way, I’ve traveled to 47 states, six continents, and 45 countries that are full of experiences and stories. Places and people I’ll never forget. And a passion I’ll continue to pursue.

Below is a quote from Mark Jenkins, contributing writer for publications such as Notational Geographic and Outside Magazine. It’s served as my “north star” for writing about places. Too often, travel writing is predictable and every place, every adventure deserves more attention than what the casual observer sees. It’s how you see it.

Lying on my bunk that night, musing on our progress so far, I realized another salient truth about adventure. It doesn’t matter where you go. It’s not what you see, but how you see it. To the jaded eye, Paris is dull, Everest is a sham, Africa is stuffed with animals already seen on the Discovery Channel. But if you think of your mind as a microscope and take a close look, there is not a chunk of earth on this planet — maybe right around the corner — that isn’t original, even inexplicable.
